Commercial Blind Rivets

Commercial blind rivets are two piece fasteners consisting of a body, or sleeve, and a setting device called a mandrel, stem or nail. These components are used when a joint can only be accessed from one side of a structure.

The rivet is set as the mandrel head is pulled into the body, which then causes it to expand and flare against the reverse side. Once the head of the mandrel reaches a pre-determined force at the face of the blind side of the rivet, the mandrel then snaps at the break point and forms a tight joint.

The head of the mandrel remains encapsulated in the body while the stem is ejected.
